Varicella

Even if your child has already had varicella, you must inform the transplant internist as soon as you discover that your child had contact with a person infected with varicella or who reported the disease later. Up to 72 hours after exposure, we can give your child a dose of a special immunoglobulin called VZIG. When your child gets varicella, IMMEDIATELY CALL THE CENTRE since untreated varicella in a child who takes an anti-rejection drug may be serious. In case of varicella, your child must be hospitalised to be given acyclovir (also called Zovirax®) by intravenous route.
